The responsibility was on these two jawans, orders to shoot at sight
The date was December 2-3 and the year 1971. The Battle of Gangasagar started at midnight. Alpha and Bravo Companies of India’s 14 Guards began marching into Pakistan-controlled territory near Gangasagar in East Pakistan. Marching was not that easy either. It was a marshy area. The feet of the soldiers were getting sunk till the knees. Seeing this, all the soldiers were asked to walk in a line. There was an Akhaura railway station which was at a distance of 4 kilometers from where the soldiers were marching. The railway track was built at a height of 8 to 10 feet from the surface. Alpha Company was asked to walk on the right side of the railway track while Bravo Company was asked to walk on the left side of the line. The responsibility of this operation was on the shoulders of two Lance Naik Gulab Singh and Albert Ekka. They were ordered to attack Pak soldiers on sight.

Pakistan asked – who, the voice came – your father
How did Pakistan come to know about the sound of Indian soldiers? Bravo Company Commander Major OP Kohli told a channel that the soldiers of Bravo Company were walking a little below the left side of the railway track. Till then Pakistan didn’t even know. Then suddenly a soldier’s foot fell on the trip wire laid by Pakistan. As a result, suddenly there was a spectacle like fireworks in the night. Pakistan’s bunker was 40 feet away from where Albert Ekka was standing at that time. Pakistan came to know as soon as the light spread in the sky. One of his soldiers shouted and asked – who is it? From here, Ikka said loudly – Your father. After this, the ace did not see any tav and ran and stabbed the Pakistani soldier in the stomach with his bayonet.
Pakistan also said retaliatory attack, Ekka was injured
Pakistani soldiers attacked after attacking Pakistani soldiers. Ekka received a bullet in the arm from Pak soldiers. However, after an attack by Albert Ekka, disaster struck. Indian soldiers took complete control. Pakistani soldiers started attacking Alpha and Bravo Company. The two companies, each with 120 men, were separated by a counter-attack. It was part of a strategy. While A Company continued to fire, B Company turned towards the pond. B Company started destroying the bunkers of Pakistanis one by one. On the other hand, the enemies were being attacked even after a single bullet was fired. He was walking with Major Kohli.
Ace was hit by a second bullet in the neck and…
Albert Ikka was hit by a second bullet from Pakistan. This bullet came out peeling his neck. Ekka immediately fell on the ground. But, immediately got up and started walking together. On the other hand, Pakistan was continuously firing. The need was to pacify the firing of the neighboring country. Here Albert Ekka introduced understanding. Albert Ikka wiped his bloody palms with his pants and tightened his grip on the gun. Ekka knew that his grip would loosen as more and more blood came out of his body. Ace’s eyes go to the hand grenade hanging from his belt. They immediately take out his pin and roll it through a hole inside the building. Pakistani soldiers could understand something, there was an explosion and their tests flew away. Albert Ikka, despite being wounded, continued to attack the Pakistani soldiers with his bayonet. Ekka wiped his sleeve with the blood splatters of Pakistani soldiers. Ekka had turned the war towards India while being martyred. Albert Ekka was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest gallantry award, for his bravery. This was the first honor given to any soldier of Bihar and Brigade of Guards.
