U.S. News evaluated the performance of more than 4,500 hospitals in nine inpatient surgical procedures and chronic conditions: colon cancer surgery, lung cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, aortic valve surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, hip replacement, knee replacement, heart failure and COPD. The results: 1,628 earned at least one “high performing,” the top rating. But only these 63 swept the table, with high performing ratings in all nine types of care.
